Homemade Hot Chocolate

Well it is officially that time of year again. Time for heavy coats, little daylight, and of course gorgeous boots. What could be better? The chilled air brings love, joy, and for some of us a whole house of relatives. This holiday season however I am prepared. I am making a recipe for hot chocolate that can be made at a moments notice and for a lot of people.

The recipe itself starts off very basic. We need 6 cups of milk( any kind you use is fine, I used 2%), 2 cups of chocolate chips, 1 14oz. can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream, and finally 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. All you need to do is put all of the following ingredients into a crock pot or a cooking pot on low and stir until all the ingredients are combined. Let this cook for at least 30 minutes, but the longer it simmers the more the flavors meld together into this mouth watering creamy goodness.

If you're like me you love cinnamon and peppermint. So to dress up your hot cocoa you can add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon or more depending on your liking. You can also add in a pinch of cardamom. If you prefer Peppermint you can opt out of the vanilla extract and use peppermint extract instead. Try new things make it your own. When you get a chance to try out the recipe send me a message to share your thoughts.
